Colorado parents are furious after alleging that their 11-year-old daughter had to share a bed with a transgender female student during a school trip to Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, citing compliance with the school district’s policy.

The young girl, only identified as D.W., learned on the first night of the June trip that her fifth-grade bunkmate identified as tr**sgender. Serena Wailes, her mother, mentioned that D.W. was upset about sharing a bed with a biological boy, despite having a good relationship with the student.

Reports say During an annual school trip, D.W. had to repeatedly ask Governor’s Ranch Elementary School chaperones to change rooms due to sharing a bed with a transgender fifth-grader. After several hours of negotiation, she was finally allowed to move but was instructed to lie about the reason. D.W.’s parents argue that the school’s policy, protecting the transgender student’s identity, is unconstitutional. They are now urging the school board to inform parents in advance about their child’s assigned bedmate’s gender.
