Horrific footage has emerged of a groom violently hitting his new wife at their wedding.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred when the newly betrothed couple were on stage at their party in Uzbekistan presumably following the wedding ceremony.

The toastmaster made them take part in a competition, which involves an unspecified game.

The bride, who is donning a sparkly dress with a full skirt and an up-do, appears to win at the unspecified game.

In the footage, she raises one arm upon her completion of the task to make this known, while a woman standing next to her starts to clap.

Upon realizing he's lost, the groom, dressed in a suit, raises his arm half-heartedly to show that he had also finished the task before he turns to look at his new wife.

As he seems to process the fact that he has been bested, he appears to anger and strikes her hard on the back of the head with his left fist.

The bride staggers to the left of the stage, bowing her head before putting one hand up to her forehead.

She is then led off the stage by two women, picking up the skirt of her dress as she moves out of the picture.

Meanwhile, the man standing alongside the groom appeared to smile in bewilderment before pulling his phone from his pocket and fidgeting with it nervously.

The groom remained on the stage, stony-faced as if nothing had happened.

It is not known what happened after the filming stopped.

The ceremony was in Uzbekistan, where there has been no comment from law enforcement agencies.
